Nogent le Bernard

A lovely little village of 1011 inhabitants, which has managed to keep the typical charm of the ‘Perche Sarthois’.

Noteworthy visits: The church of  Saint Jouin sur Marnes with its beautifully sculpted roman facade.

Furthermore a stop at the ‘Le Château de Haut Eclair‘ is also recommended, followed by a brisk walk to admire the classified Menhir de Courtevrais.

Local shops: An excellent butcher, famous for his ‘rillettes’ which have won several prizes, a small supermarket, a bakery and a hair dresser.

Shops in the vicinity: A few minutes are enough to visit Saint-Cosme en Varais or Bonnétable, two small towns where you will find supermarkets, chemists, banks and various shops.

La Ferté Bernard

The nearest main city is la Ferté-Bernard, (approx 15 minutes by car), a city of culture and tradition of the Perche Sarthois.

La Ferté-Bernard is definitely worth a visit because of its charming historical city centre, the church ‘Notre-Dame des Marais’ and the old city gate. Furthermore there are numerous other means to discover the city such as: renting a electrical boat to tour the canals & small rivers for which the city is famous. For even more sportive discoveries of the surroundings you can also rent a canoe and descend the river Huisne.

Le Mans

A little further away (40 minutes by car), you will find Le Mans, a large city famous for its mythical annual event : “Les 24 heures du Mans”( the  24 hour race), held every 3rd weekend of June. However Le Mans is less known for its historical character, its beautiful cathedral, the old city centre with its lovely medieval streets waiting to be discovered. You will also find a large choice of beautiful shops, delicious restaurants, bistros and cafés.

Outdoor activities

There are several open-air recreational areas close by. During late spring and the summer period you can swim, (lifeguards in the summer months), rent a canoe or even a small sailing boat. You may also choose to go for long walks. The nearest areas are:
